Everyday Micros Farm is a small urban farm dedicated to producing high-quality, nutrient-rich microgreens, herbs and edible flowers year-round for professional chefs, home cooks and health specialists. We utilize sustainable farming practices to cultivate a wide variety of microgreens 365 days a year even through the harsh Canadian winter.

The impact you'll make

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as an Intermediate Farm Hand. The ideal candidate will be passionate about agriculture, possess a strong work ethic, and embraces collaboration. As a Farm Hand, you will play a crucial role in all aspects of our microgreens, herbs and edible flower production process, from seed sowing to harvesting and packaging as well as participating in innovation projects.

What you'll do

Microgreens, herbs and edible Flower cultivation:  Oversee the farm production process. Assist in the planting, watering, and harvesting of microgreens using hydroponic and/or soil-based growing methods. Lead a small team in daily farm operations, ensuring an efficient and productive workflow.

 

Crop maintenance: Monitor the health and growth of microgreens, identify and address any pest or disease issues, and ensure optimal growing conditions. Maintain high quality standards for all of our products.

 

Seed Sowing: Accurately sow seeds in trays or growing mediums according to planting schedules and production requirements. Collaborate with the team to implement innovative growing techniques and enhance sustainability principles.

 

Harvesting and packaging: Harvest microgreens at the peak of freshness, carefully handle and package them for delivery to customers while maintaining product quality and presentation.

 

Cleaning and sanitization: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the growing area, including washing trays, equipment, and work surfaces.

 

Inventory management: Assist in inventory tracking and management, including maintaining accurate records of seed stock, growing supplies, and harvested microgreens. Contribute to process improvements.

 

Contribute to Research and Development Projects: Participate in projects, such as setting up new growing systems, expanding growing capacity, and implementing process improvements. Be adaptable and ready to assist with various tasks.


Adherence to Safety Procedures: Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Qualifications

At Everyday Micros Farm, we seek great people to join our team who are driven to push the boundaries of what farming can be in an urban environment and love to innovate. The food you grow will feed many people including top chefs, home cooks and families in the Toronto area through creative or nutrient dense dishes.

In the interview you should be able to demonstrate these Qualifications

  • Previous experience in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is preferred but not required.

  • Diploma or degree in agriculture or related field is a bonus but not required

  • Strong knowledge of microgreens, hydroponics or indoor growing systems

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting(up to 60lbs.), bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • A valid driver's license (Ability to drive to multiple farm locations)

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team

  • Effective communication and ability to work as a  team.

  • Passion for sustainable farming practices and commitment to producing high-quality produce.

  • Curiosity into regenerative agriculture, innovation and farming technologies

  • Must be eligible to legally work in Canada
